Downtown Sevierville Streets to Close Aug. 29 for Relay for Life
Drivers heading into downtown Sevierville on Saturday, Aug. 29 should plan around two street closures for the Sevier County Relay for Life event.
Court Avenue will be closed from Commerce Street to Joy Street. A section of Bruce Street will also close from the city parking lot exit to the Citizens National Bank parking lot.
Both closures are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and remain in place until 10 p.m., creating an all-day traffic change around the downtown event area. The city has not announced a formal detour, so drivers should use surrounding streets and allow extra time when approaching downtown businesses or public parking.
The closures are limited to the identified portions of Court Avenue and Bruce Street rather than the entire downtown street network. Visitors who normally enter or leave through the affected parking areas may need to use another access point while event operations are underway.
Relay for Life events support the American Cancer Society through community fundraising and activities honoring cancer survivors and remembering people lost to the disease. The Sevier County event is the reason for the temporary downtown traffic plan.
Anyone with plans in central Sevierville that day should check their destination’s access before arriving, particularly if it relies on Court Avenue, Bruce Street or the city parking lot. Streets are expected to reopen after 10 p.m. once the event area is cleared.
