First Smoky Mountain Overland Invasion Coming to Pigeon Forge in October
A new event built around vehicle-based adventure travel is joining Pigeon Forge's convention calendar this fall.
The first Smoky Mountain Overland Invasion is scheduled for Oct. 23 and 24 at the LeConte Center. Organizers describe the expo as a gathering for overlanding, adventure travel and the broader outdoor lifestyle—an audience that ranges from weekend campers to travelers who equip four-wheel-drive vehicles for extended trips.
Unlike a traditional car show, an overland expo typically centers on the equipment and planning required to travel and camp from a vehicle. That can include rooftop tents, trailers, recovery gear, storage systems, cooking equipment and off-grid power. The Pigeon Forge event is expected to bring that culture indoors at the convention center while connecting it to the Smokies' established outdoor-travel market.
The debut adds another specialized automotive event to the LeConte Center schedule, but it targets a different audience from the city's familiar rod runs and brand-specific gatherings. Its mix of vehicles, camping and outdoor recreation could appeal to visitors who use Pigeon Forge as a base for regional road trips, though off-road driving is not permitted on trails inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The LeConte Center is located at 2986 Teaster Lane in central Pigeon Forge. The official tourism listing currently identifies the event as a two-day expo and the first annual edition.
Additional exhibitor, admission and daily schedule details were not included in the initial tourism announcement. Those planning to attend should use the organizer's current event information as October approaches.
