Park Headquarters Road Remains Closed for Sugarlands Utility Work

Visitors heading toward Sugarlands should account for an active road closure inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The National Park Service currently lists Park Headquarters Road as closed because of rehabilitation work on the Sugarlands water and wastewater systems. The alert does not provide a reopening date.

This is a targeted operational closure, not a statement that the entire Sugarlands area or the national park is closed. Visitors should use current park alerts when planning their route and avoid assuming access has resumed until the NPS updates or removes the alert.
